• Dear Parents/Guardians:

Welcome back to the 2021-2022 school year. Staff are very excited to be back and working with your children. We are looking forward to a wonderful school year!

The district wanted to inform you regarding several items that Governor Pritzker signed into law August 2019. House Bill 3586, has several new provisions related to children with IEP’s.

The first provision is for all draft documents that are going to be presented at an IEP meeting to be provided to parents 3 days prior to the meeting. The written drafts provided to parents must include, but are not limited to:

    • All evaluations and collected data that will be considered at the meeting; and
    • For students already eligible, a copy of all IEP components that will be discussed by the IEP team, "[and] copies of all written material that will be considered by the individualized education program team at the meeting other than the components related to the educational and related service minutes proposed for the child and the child's educational placement."

In addition to the draft document requirement, the amended statute also requires public school districts to make related service logs and make these logs available to the parent at the student's annual review meeting or upon request. If you wish to obtain your child’s service log, please contact your child’s case manager directly and they will support the coordination with related service providers.

If you have any further questions, please feel free to contact Mr. Matthew Crowley at (847) 245-8306.
