    EC/PreK Activity Recommendations 

     

    Reading 20 minutes: Have an adult read a book to you. Discuss who the characters are in the story.

    Writing 10 minutes: Have an adult write your first and last name in highlighter.  Trace the letters!

    Math 20 minutes: Use a small bucket or box and fill it with as many things of one color that you can find! Use 1:1 counting to see how many objects you found!

    Social Studies/Science  10 minutes: List objects in your yard that let you know that spring is here! Talk about what these objects look like. 

    Art 10 minutes: Draw a picture about a story that you have read.

    Music 10 minutes: Listen to music for 10 minutes

    Movement 10 minutes: Sing Head, Shoulders, Knees and Toes 3 times. 

     

    1st Time- Sing Slowly

     

    2nd Time- Medium Speed

     

    3rd Time- Super Fast 

    Extra Activity 20 minutes: Free Play 

     

     

     

     

    Reading 20 minutes: “Read” a book and point to the characters and different objects in the pictures. 

    Writing 10 minutes: Draw a picture of you (at school we call it drawing matman) Make sure your person has  a head, body, arms, hands, legs and feet. Add as much detail as possible!

    Math 20 minutes: Play hide and seek. Practice counting to 5, 10, 20 or 30 while the others are hiding.

    Social Studies/Science 10 minutes: Sort and classify a large variety of buttons, legos, shoes, socks, etc. 

    Art 10 minutes: Make a collage of things that are important to you.

    Music 10 minutes: Make music in your home using what you find.

    Movement 10 minutes: Complete each animal action 3 times:

     

    Hop like a bunny

     

    Slither like a snake

     

    Waddle like a duck

     

    Crawl like a bear

     

     

    Extra Activity 20 minutes: Practice taking turns with a sibling or an adult.  

     

     

     

     

     

    Reading 20 minutes: Read a story from start to finish. Re-read the story and recall what comes next. 

    Writing 10 minutes: Draw a picture about a book that has been read to you. Have an adult write about what you drew. 

    Math 20 minutes: Build two block towers and compare their heights.

    Social Studies/Science 10 minutes: Take a container of water and household items. Predict which items will sink or float. Record your results! 

    Art 10 minutes: Create something with play-doh. 

    Music 10 minutes: Tap the beat along to a song that you are listening to.

    Movement 10 minutes: Freeze Dance. Play music and have an adult stop the song at random times. When the music stops, your body should FREEZE!

    Extra Activity 20 minutes: Practice putting your coat on and zipping it. 

     

     

     

     

     

     

     

    Reading 20 minutes: Find hidden pictures in an I Spy type book or a magazine like Highlights for Children.

    Writing 10 minutes: Draw a picture about a movie you watched. Have an adult write about what you drew. 

    Math 20 minutes: Go on a shape hunt in your home. Find 5 circles, 5 squares, 5 rectangles and 5 triangles.

    Social Studies/Science 10 minutes: Draw a picture of each season and talk about them and what colors you might see. 

    Art 10 minutes: Draw pictures in shaving cream in a tray or on your table.

    Music 10 minutes: Listen to music for 10 minutes.

    Movement 10 minutes: Build a fort. 

    Extra Activity 20 minutes: Practice getting yourself dressed. 

     

     

     

     

     

     

     

     

    Reading 20 minutes: Read a fiction and a nonfiction book.

    Writing 10 minutes: Create letters using play-doh. 

    Math 20 minutes: Help out with the laundry by matching socks that are the same.

    Social Studies/Science 10 minutes: Discuss different places you can go in the spring. 

    Art 10 minutes: Paint a picture. 

    Music 10 minutes: Sing three nursery rhymes. 

    Movement 10 minutes: Play outside.

    Reading 20 minutes: Read a story. Before reading the book talk about what is a title, author and illustrator. Predict what will happen in the story by looking at the cover.  

    Writing 10 minutes: Trace your name in a tray of rice or salt or sand. 

    Math 20 minutes: Bake something with your family. Talk about what you are measuring. 

    Social Studies/Science 10 minutes: Make ice cubes. Talk about freezing and melting. 

    Art 10 minutes: Make a picture using four different colors. 

    Music 10 minutes: Sing the ABCs three times. 

    Movement 10 minutes: Have a race.
