Hello, my name is Theresa McChristian and I am your child's 4th grade teacher. This year I aspire to empower your students so they embrace each challenge and continue their journey as life-long learners. I plan to accomplish this by working with your child in various instructional and educational environments: whole group, small groups, collaborative groups and independent. Using these various grouping methods enables students to interact with the material in various ways. It is important to me that your child has these opportunities to become a an empowered and inspired learner that is equipped with the vital 21st century skills.
I have had the pleasure of teaching 4th graders since 2017, both at Martin and Hooper Elementary Schools. I have also taught 6th grade as well. Before beginning my teaching journey, I attended Lake Forest College where I double majored in Education and Psychology. In college I completed a fieldwork opportunity in Waukegan, where I taught 2nd grade students about poetry and ELA. I also completed my student teachin experience , where I developed my educational craft in all disciplines. During this time, passed our current Educational Teacher Proficiency Assessment (https://www.edtpa.com/PageView.aspx?f=GEN_AboutEdTPA.html). With my professional educational experiences, I am excited bring my passion, enthusiasm, dedication, and sense of humor into the classroom!
Outside of the classroom I enjoy arts and crafts, ballroom dancing, and reading. I also LOVE coaching Girls on the Run and Field Hockey at Lakes Community High School.
