Degrees and Certifications:
Hello! My name is Kristin Stokien and I joined the District 41 family in 2016. I am excited to be part of your child's learning experience! I graduated from Southern Illinois University Carbondale in 2008 with a Bachelor's degree in Social Work. After graduating, I took a position working with children both in an academic and residential setting. As I continued in my profession, I realized how much I enjoyed working with children and being part of their social, emotional, and academic developments and successes. After relocating from the St. Louis area to the Northwest suburbs, having our first son, and taking a full-time position in a classroom as a paraprofessional, I decided to go back to school to earn my master's in Elementary Education from the University of Phoenix. I graduated in the fall of 2015 and immediately took a position in 2nd grade for the remaining of the school year. I look forward to getting to know and working with your child at Thompson Elementary School! My passion of teaching continues to grow each and every day. My goal is to help students see that they are independent, thoughtful, and lifelong learners whom are active citizens in our community.
