Leaders of Today and Tomorrow

Dear Parent and/or Guardian:

December is upon us, as is a change in weather and upcoming holidays! Please remember that students at Palombi participate in an outdoor recess three days per week when the wind chill is above 25 degrees. Students should be prepared with appropriate clothing to handle the inclement weather.

In recent years, most, if not all schools have submitted plans to keep school running during what we used to call “snow days”. Lake Villa School District 41 has an e-learning plan for inclement weather. If Lake Villa School District 41 was to decide an e-learning plan is necessary due to inclement weather, please understand that all students are to attend school via their Friday schedule on that day. Teachers will post their Google Meet in each Google Classroom for students to access, take attendance at the beginning of each period, provide instructions to their students, and assign some type of activity or homework assignment. If you have any questions about the plan, please contact us.

Mrs. Melissa Rhodes, 8th Grade Social Studies Teacher, was selected by Franklin Covey as a Beacon Coordinator for the Leader in Me Program. Her selection was based on her role as a Palombi Lighthouse Coordinator and Facilitator and Palombi’s excellent work with the Leader in Me Program. Please congratulate Mrs. Rhodes as she assists our school and others in being well-rounded schools of leadership.

Notes from the Office

Forgotten Items If your child forgets an item at home and you feel it is absolutely necessary to bring it to school for them, please know that we have a forgotten items cart inside our office. Once you are in the office, please sign your students’ name on a post-it note, place it on the correct grade level shelf, and we will try to deliver those items as soon as possible. Students aren’t able to use their phones during the day and shouldn’t be texted about missing items. Honor Roll First Trimester honor roll certificates were handed out on Tuesday! Congratulations to all of the students who received a certificate and worked hard to earn this honor. We look forward to more students reaching their Wildly Important Goals and earning this for the second trimester.
