Thompson’s Student Lighthouse Team proudly participated in the annual St. Patrick’s Day Parade in Lake Villa this weekend. Our students represented Thompson with great energy and Tiger pride as they joined the community in celebrating this fun local tradition. Thank you to our Student Lighthouse members for being such wonderful ambassadors for our school and for demonstrating leadership both in and out of the classroom. We are proud of the way they continue to represent Thompson Elementary in our community. 🍀🐯

The students in Mrs. Sylvester's class had a visit from the Astronomical Society! They were very inquisitive and showed this by asking exceptional questions. They learned so much, such as the different colors of the stars, how stars are formed, and the different phases of the moon. The students were also exposed to great vocabulary words: totality, lunar, big bang theory, etc. Thank you so much for coming, Mr. Layne and Ms. Kim. Today, we celebrated our Principal Pride winners who demonstrated outstanding effort and achievement on their Unit 5 Mathematics Assessment. These students put their problem-solving skills to the test and showed great determination while tackling some challenging math concepts.

Our 1st graders had a special surprise today when a Mystery Reader stopped by their classroom! Students eagerly listened as our guest shared a favorite story, filling the room with excitement, laughter, and a love for reading.

Today we celebrated students who embody Leader in Me Habit 5: Seek First to Understand, Then to Be Understood with a student of the month ceremony. Teachers nominated one student and presented them with a certificate. #itsathompsontigerthing #leaderinme

Read Across America Week included a police officer mystery reader and flashlight reading in jammies in Kindergarten! #Mustangsmakeithappen

Once the mystery reader was uncovered, our young Kindergarten learners enjoyed a wonderful story and shared lots of smiles and excitement. Moments like these help build a love for reading and strengthen the connection between school and our community.
